Sherrie Wilson Hinshaw

Sherrie is currently the President & CEO of Volunteers of America Alaska, an organization whose mission of providing community-based mental health and substance abuse treatment services, prevention, and affordable housing aligns with her own passions and background. 

She holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, a BA in Psychology, and a BBA in Management and Marketing. 

Prior to joining Volunteers of America in March of 2018, Sherrie oversaw affordable housing and self-sufficiency programs for the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, and served as a program officer at DHSS Division of Behavioral Health leading state coordination and planning to increase supportive housing opportunities. She has direct client care experience in residential, outpatient and community-based behavioral health settings. Hinshaw is also an Adjunct Professor at UAA teaching implementation and evaluation of community health programs. 

Sherrie is a lifelong Alaskan who left the private sector to follow her passion of behavioral health and changing community health outcomes. She lives in Anchorage with her husband Dave, and children Pepper and Fletcher.
